What we Believe

ABOUT THE BIBLE:

We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. The entirety of its contents in the 66 books were given by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to holy men who wrote as they were divinely inspired. The Bible is the only final authority on the nature, person, thoughts, intents and the will of God, and on all human conduct in relation to God, our fellow humans, and all of God’s creation. The Bible is entirely infallible and unchangeable and is trustworthy as the only revelation of absolute truth.

We also believe that God’s Word, which conveys the entire will of God, is ‘Spirit and Life’, and the Bible is a written representation of the spiritual living Word of God; hence, an accurate interpretation and understanding of the Bible can only be achieved by the help of the Holy Spirit through Spirit inspired revelation.

ABOUT GOD:

We believe that there is only one true God who is the creator and sustainer of all things visible and invisible, tangible and intangible. He is immanent, self-existing, self-sustaining, uncaused, eternal, potentate, only-wise, only-true, everlasting, all-powerful, all-knowing, transcendent and present in all existence. There is one God but He exists in three persons as a trinity – God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, and these three, though distinct persons are the same and inseparable in essence.

We believe that God The Father is the giver of life and has preeminence over all. He is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and also the father of all born-again believers who receive salvation by faith through Jesus Christ.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is the Word of God through which all things were created and which was made flesh for the complete salvation of mankind. Jesus was conceived of the virgin Mary by the Holy Spirit and is both completely God and completely man. He was the full embodiment and revelation of God in the flesh and He brought the revelation of the eternal kingdom of God to the earth. The man Jesus gained victory over sin, offered Himself as a ransom for the sins of the world, and though he was entirely holy and without sin, He purchased eternal redemption for us through His blood by sacrificing Himself on the cross. He was killed physically and tasted spiritual death for everyone so that those who believe in Him should have victory over sin and receive eternal life. He was raised from the dead both physically and spiritually by the glory of God the Father, He ascended into heaven and is presently seated at the right hand of the Father as the only mediator between God and man. Jesus will come again physically to the earth in all His glory at a time appointed by the Father, but till then, we who have been born again continue to commune with Him and receive Him spiritually as a continuing work of salvation. We believe that the person and nature of Jesus Christ can be learnt on earth through the revealed writings of His Holy apostles and prophets in the Holy Scriptures as inspired by the Holy Spirit and that we can bear His testimony through His teachings and manner of life according to the scripture (Rev 19:10).

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the trinity. He is a distinct person but he is fully God and is inseparable from the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit is also continuously present on the earth playing a unique role in God’s salvation plan for humanity. He convicts sinners of their sinfulness and leads them to repent and be born again by faith in Jesus Christ. He dwells within every born again believer, giving eternal life and an assurance of salvation. As the teacher of truth, the Holy Spirit guides the believer on the path of spiritual growth by giving the revelation of God through the scriptures, prayer, and fellowship with fellow believers. He also supplies the power and authority needed for believers to live victorious Christian lives and produce spiritual fruit. The Holy Spirit sheds the love of God in our hearts and endows us with diverse spiritual gifts including the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, faith, gifts of healing, working of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, diverse kinds of tongues, and interpretation of tongues, to be used in the edification of the body of Christ.

ABOUT MAN:

We believe that God created man in His image and likeness and man consists of spirit, soul and body. God formed man of the dust of the ground, breathed into him the breath of life, and man became a living soul; then God gave man dominion over the earth and all the creatures in it. God created man to share in His love and to have continuous fellowship with Him. God made man with the intention that man would overcome death and corruption, partake of the tree of life, and eventually become a glorious eternal habitation for Him. Contrary to God’s will, all men through the disobedience of the first man, Adam, have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. Through Adam’s sin, all men died spiritually; man’s spirit died instantly, and the soul took on the nature of sin and death. All men are by nature sinners and are in need of salvation. The sinful man, who has not received salvation through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ cannot by his own works or device please God, or save himself from eternal condemnation. Man is only saved by grace through faith.

We believe that after the fall of man, God sent His only son Jesus Christ to the earth to atone for the sins of all humanity and purchase eternal redemption for mankind through His death on the cross. The work of salvation was finished in Christ when He was raised from the dead and ascended into heaven, sprinkling his own blood upon the mercy seat and sat down at the right hand of the Father; so that everyone who believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. Every man who confesses the lordship of Jesus and believes in their heart that God raised Him from the dead is saved and is born again. At this initial point of salvation, the spirit becomes alive and is joined to Christ. Becoming one spirit with Christ enables the new believer to partake of the continuing work of salvation – the salvation of the soul. The spirit is completely saved at the new birth, but the soul, being of a different nature from the spirit, has to be progressively purged of the sinful nature by the power of God unto salvation contained in the Gospel of Christ. As the soul is progressively saved, the fruit of the recreated, born again spirit will begin to be borne in the soul.

We believe that after man has received the end result of faith and the church has become a spotless bride to Jesus Christ, we will eventually fulfill God’s desire, becoming a beautiful city and an eternal habitation for Him in the world to come.

ABOUT THE CHURCH:

We believe that the Church is made up of born again believers who have been saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and who are participants of the ongoing work of sanctification, as the Lord Jesus Christ prepares her to be presented to himself as a glorious bride without spot or wrinkle. The Church is also the pillar and ground of truth. It is the shining light in a dark sinful world, and it establishes the standard of righteousness as a witness to all men.

We believe that believers are to identify themselves and function as part of the Church of Christ by being part of a local assembly or community of believers who meet and fellowship together regularly. The local church is to be edified, shepherded, and multiplied by the functioning of the five-fold ministry, namely; apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers.

We believe that the main reason why we are born again and the main purpose of the Church is for believers to gradually become conformed to God’s image and become one with Him in spirit, soul and body, so that we being completely transformed can fully enjoy eternal fellowship with God.
